The 'Alwa' apple tree is a winter apple variety from Poland, known for its hardiness, high yield and tasty fruit. Growing this variety on the M26 rootstock ensures moderate growth, early fruiting and easy tree formation. This combination is ideal for growers and intensive orchards.

The tree grows moderately vigorously, has a compact crown that is medium dense and easy to shape. The M26 rootstock reduces the size of the tree, making it suitable for smaller gardens, but it also requires support, especially in the early years of planting.

The fruit of the 'Alwa' apple tree is medium to large, spherical to slightly flattened. The skin is smooth and green, with a distinctive crimson-red cheek covering the surface of the fruit. The flesh is creamy white, juicy, crisp and slightly aromatic. The taste is sweet, harmonious and very popular.

Maturity: end of October.

Ripening period: December to March.

Durability: excellent, the fruit retains its firmness, flavour and juiciness throughout the winter.

Growing conditions

The 'Alwa' apple tree is planted in a sunny and warm location, preferably on the south side. It requires moist, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral reaction. The M26 rootstock is ideal for intensive cultivation as it promotes fertility and makes the tree easier to care for.

The 'Alwa' apple tree is frost-resistant but slightly susceptible to diseases such as scab and mildew. It needs a suitable pollinator, such as 'Golden Delicious', 'Elstar', 'Idared' or 'Jonagold', for a good crop.

The sweet taste of the 'Alwa' apple makes it ideal for direct consumption. They are also suitable for processing, for example for juices, compotes or desserts.

The 'Alwa' apple tree on the M26 rootstock is a suitable preparation for growers looking for a variety with high yields, attractive fruit set and a long shelf life. This variety is ideal for gardeners and fruit growers alike and produces excellent results when grown correctly.
