- The variety of gooseberry Siewiernyj Kapitan was bred in RuskIt is undemanding to cultivation, is drought- and frost-resistant.
- The growth is strong and erect, with numerous strong shoots in maturity, almost without thorns. In ideal conditions it grows up to 1,5m. The fruits are large, oval-shaped and reddish-purple in colour. The taste is excellent, very juicy and sweet. The fruit lasts on the bush even when harvested later and does not burst.
- Harvesting lasts from mid-July to about mid-August. It is most prolific on 1-3 year old shoots. It is one of the most prolific varieties. The yield is high and regular. Siewiernyj Kapitan is a self-pollinating variety , therefore it does not require a pollinator. The fruit is suitable for direct consumption, but also for processing or refrigerated storage.
- Disease resistance is high, it is resistant to American gooseberry powdery mildew.
- It is fully hardy.
- Gooseberries are best grown in a sunny position, but also tolerate partial shade. The best soil is fertile, rich in humus.
