The 'Pancharevo' dogwood (Cornus mas 'Pancharevo') is an excellent Bulgarian variety characterised by compact growth and large, aromatic fruits. It grows to a height of 2-3 metres, forming a natural umbrella shape, making it suitable for smaller gardens as well as larger plantings.
In spring, in March, it blooms with rich yellow flowers that are the first harbinger of spring and attractive to pollinators. The foliage is a lush green, but in autumn it turns beautiful shades of yellow and red, making this variety decorative all year round.
The fruits are very large, dark red, weighing up to 15 g, making it one of the largest of the dogwood varieties. They ripen at the end of August and the flesh is juicy, slightly acidic and aromatic.
Pancharevo' is an undemanding and hardy variety that prefers a sunny or semi-shady position. It thrives best in permeable, slightly moist soil. It is frost tolerant, which makes it suitable for colder areas.
The fruit is rich in vitamin C and other health benefits, making it great for direct consumption. Their juicy and refreshing taste also makes them suitable for processing into jams, compotes, tinctures and other fruit products.
The 'Pancharevo' is an excellent choice for those looking for a variety with large and tasty fruits, attractive appearance and easy care.
